Travelling to Jyväskylä

The international week is arranged in two separate locations, Jyväskylä and Tampere. The week begins in Jyväskylä on Monday 13 May 2019 and ends in Tampere on Friday 17 May 2019. You can reach Jyväskylä easily either by bus or train from the Finnish Capital Helsinki. For more information, please see the Getting to Jyväskylä website.

Travelling from Jyväskylä to Tampere

The organisers will provide a bus transport to Jyväskylä on Wednesday 15 May 2019 for the participants of the week. Please note that the week will end in Tampere on 17 May, and the organisers do not cover the potential return trip to Helsinki.

Travelling from Tampere to Helsinki

After the week, you might need to travel to Helsinki to catch your flight. The easiest way to travel is by trainbus (there is also a budget alternative) or by airplane (Tampere-Pirkkala Airport has direct flights to Helsinki and various cities in Europe e.g. Stockholm, Riga, Budapest, and Bremen).

Using Buses in Tampere

1. Wave for the bus if you want it to stop.
2. Pay the ticket to the driver (3,00 €) telling which zones you want to travel in (if you’re staying in the city centre or near TAMK, zone A is enough). You can travel and change to another bus with the ticket for 1 hour.
3. The bus stops when the stop button is pressed by a passenger. In most buses, you can see the name of the next bus stop on a board in the front part of the bus.

Buses from the city centre to TAMK (bus stop TAMK):
1, 1A, 1B, 1C, 8, 28A, 28B, 29, 80, 90Mx, 90T, and 95.

For Hotels Scandic Tampere Station, Scandic Tampere City and Dream Hostel, the nearest bus stop is Rautatieasema.
Hotel Norlandia Care is very near to TAMK, and the easiest and fastest way is by foot.
