Description: The use of new technologies in the classroom has been hailed as the methodology to dethrone all predecessors. One needs only to consider youngsters from all levels of education clinging to their mobiles or tablets, a fact that has indisputably ensued a decrease in the interest for books. This lack of curiosity brings about consequences for teaching as well, namely the awkwardness of coursebooks in the classroom and the predominance of writing in detriment of orality. However, it is our belief that technology should have a saying in the 21st language classroom, as it has done in previous decades. Thus, attempting to merge the discipline of Audiovisual Translation with that of foreign language teaching, we wish to conduct a two-fold experiment aiming to practise participants oral and written skills: for the former, we will make use of audio description for the blind and visually-impaired, whereas for the latter through subtitling.
