Curiosity and Motivation in Language Learning Context,
Ms. Claire Guerlain, Université Paris-Est Créteil, France
Place: Room F304

Time: 11.15 – 12.00
Description: Communicating in a foreign language requires self-confidence, curiosity and authenticity. Therefore, I adapt my course content to my students main study fields and have them look for sources in English from various English-speaking countries to prepare their presentations. They often work in pairs or study groups as to develop good communication skills and share their knowledge/struggle. Through various topics, I encourage my students to speak in front of an audience, develop learning strategies and understand cultural specificities. My presentation will focus on four different learning situations:
– How to teach a PE module in English using positive feedback.
– How to interact as a coach using body language and English specific vocabulary.
– Understanding art movements and use museums visits to acquire life-long experience.
– Read and analyze press articles to build a more complete vision of a current issue.
